Jack Hill, a Pierce County judge who was the sole challenger to state Supreme Court Justice Debra L. Stephens, has decided to remove his name from the ballot and withdraw from the race leaving Stephens a clear path to the seat that she was appointed to last December.
Hill told the Spokesman-Review that he continued to research Stephens and decided she was a good fit for the bench.
"I probably jumped the gun a bit in filing,”he said.
Richard Roesler at the Spokesman-Reviewhas a story on former Spokane City Councilman Steve Eusgter's fight to keep from having his privilege to practice law in Washington state suspended. The case, which stemmed from a complaint that he acted dishonestly with an elderly client, has gone all the way to the Supreme Court.
"I don't want to vote for a rock star. I want somebody who is going to take care of the issues."
