UPDATED: Muri high on colleague Bunney's chances

MINNEAPOLIS -Dick Muri, who serves on the Pierce County along with two of the top candidates for Pierce County Executive this year, Shawn Bunney (R-Bonney Lake) and Calvin Goings (D-Puyallup), feels that Bunney is best positioned to win the election this November.

"I think the dynamic of the ballot is going to give Shawn Bunney the clear advantage," Muri said.

Muri predicted that Goings would split votes almost equally with fellow Democrat Pat McCarthy, who is the Pierce County Auditor, giving Bunney the win. Also running is Mike Lonergan, who is running under the Executive Excellence banner. After each round of ballots, the last place candidate is eliminated, and their second choice than gets their vote. When one candidate receives a majority they are declared the winner.

Government accountability may be heading to Pierce County GOP platform

MINNEAPOLIS -This is Pierce County Councilmember Dick Muri's first national convention, and after just one event he is already fired up for the rest of the week. Coming into the convention, one of the key things he was looking forward to was meeting a lot of great people, and after today's luncheon meeting he has already met with what he thinks is a great idea.

Muri was impressed by Grover Norquist's call to open up all government spending to public view. He said he was going to call fellow Councilmember Shawn Bunney (R-Bonney Lake) as soon as he could and tell him that they need to make it a party platform issue in Pierce County.
