Mays to embark on listening tour

Mark Mays (D-Spokane) will give his campaign for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers' (R-Colville) 5th Congressional District seat a boost this month when he goes on a listening tour of the Eastern Washington district. His tour, similar ones of which were popularized locally by former Republican Rep. George Nethercutt in 1994 and nationally by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), will start this week in the southeastern corner of the district.

Mays will hit Dayton, Clarkston and Pullman on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Full details can be found in the campaign's press release.

Foley still has $35k on hand

It's been nearly fourteen years since Thomas Foley lost his congressional seat to George Nethercutt, and there's been no sign that the former Speaker of the House would ever seek a political comeback. But Foley still keeps a campaign account, with a balance of $35,451. His Treasurer/wife, Heather Foley, files reports with the Federal Election Commission four times a year.

GOP fixture Short is running in 7th

Shelly Short (R-Addy), who has built a strong political reputation in Northeastern Washington as Deputy District Director for Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers and Field Coordinator for Congressman George Nethercutt before most recently serving as Senior Legislative Assistant to State Representative Joel Kretz, announced recently that she will be running for State Representative in the 7th District, Position 1.
