Harper to Run for State House in LD2

Acting on a tip from Tri-City Herald's Chris Mulick, the Politicker has confirmed that Eatonville's Raymond Harper is running for State Representative, position 1, in the 2nd Legislative District.

Harper faces Jean Marie Christiansen in the Democratic Primary, and the winner will meet incumbent Rep. Jim McCune in November.

Speaking about why he decided to run, Harper cited Rep. McCune's failings as a representative. "Jim's been really ineffective," Harper said. "He's a good guy, even some of his ideas I don't have a problem with, but he doesn't know how to move things out of committee. He's just pretty ineffective."

Raymond Harper, a career Boeing employee since 1978, has served on the Eatonville town council for four years, including a three month stint as acting mayor, and was the Eatonville planning commissioner.
