Dollar for dollar matching
OLYMPIA -- May proved to be another good month for raising money in the battle for governor.

Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi matched each other nearly dollar for dollar last month as the governor surged past the total she raised for her 2004 election. (Jerry Cornfield, Everett Herald)

Playing in the mud
THE BUILDING INDUSTRY Association of Washington is a political equivalent of the Oakland Raiders in their roughhouse days: The BIAW delivers more and dirtier blind-side hits than a Raider cornerback.

One difference: The Raiders were skilled and successful. The BIAW is living evidence that dirty play does not deliver success. (Joel Connelly, Post-Intelligencer)

Cheering impeachment move
Two insurgent Democratic challengers have expressed strong support for Rep. Dennis Kucinich's (D-Ohio) idea to introduce articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush Monday night. Paul Richmond (D-Port Townsend), who is seeking the seat of party mate Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Belfair), and Cheryl Crist (D-Olympia), who is running against Rep. Brian Baird (D-Vancouver), both issued press releases welcoming the impeachment and urging their fellow candidates to support the movement. (Bryan Bissell, PolitickerWA.com)

Big gun coming in for Reichert
U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner will headline a local fundraiser for Congressman Dave Reichert, R-Auburn, June 28. Boehner will be at a Bellevue hotel for a $100 per person breakfast. (David Postman, Seattle Times)
