Gregoire nets $100K in first campaign week

Gov. Chris Gregoire sent out an e-mail this afternoon announcing a successful fundraising drive for the first week of her official re-election campaign and again attacking opponent Dino Rossi for offering "nothing but criticism and pessimism".

Although Gregoire has been raising money for years, she technically just began her campaign effort with a bus tour last week and a goal of raising $30,000 in that time. Today's e-mail shows she has taken in more than $100,000 from over 300 donors.

Friends,

Gov. Chris Gregoire and all of us at Team Gregoire want to thank you for kicking this campaign off to an amazing start.

Nearly 5,000 supporters from across the state participated in our campaign kickoff events.

They were excited because Gov. Chris Gregoire has created nearly 225,000 new jobs and provided healthcare to 84,000 kids. Our state is ranked by Fortune and Forbes magazines as one of the top-five states to do business in the nation.

On April 2, she set a goal to raise $30,000 by midnight on April 10, the last day of the tour.

More than 300 of you answered that call and donated more than $100,000 online during the first full week of campaigning.

Every one of you understands the stark choice Washington will be presented with on Election Day.

Gov. Chris Gregoire offers a clear plan and a hopeful, optimistic vision for our future. Our opponent offers nothing but criticism and pessimism.

The Governor has provided healthcare to 84,000 children. Our opponent wrote a budget that cut healthcare for 46,000 children.

She created a substantial budget surplus and put millions into the first ever Rainy Day fund. When our opponent was head of the state budget committee, he created a $2.2 billion deficit.

Who do you trust to take on challenges and get results?

Thank you for everything.

Thanks,
Team Gregoire
