Eyman makes appearance at KC Dem convention

WEST SEATTLE -

An unlikely political celebrity is roaming the sidelines of the West Seattle High gym today seeking support for his cause. Dressed casually in khakis and a light blue fleece with a wide smile on his face is none other than ballot initiative guru Tim Eyman.

He said he was not being very "ferocious" in his solicitation of signatures and, sure enough, has spent much of the day standing in the corner with his clipboard attracting incredulous glares from many attendees mixed in with a few compliments on his demeanor and attitude. Eyman is specifically here on behalf of his Initiative 985 that seeks tweak existing traffic laws to reduce congestion,

Eyman's initiatives have frequently drawn the wrath of the left, but he felt that his presence here at the Democratic convention was a show of the non-partisan nature of his initiatives, and he spent all day yesterday at the King County GOP convention in Auburn.

Besides, Eyman does have a slight connection to the convention here. His kids, age 8 and 10, who he used to take with him to Olympia when he traveled there on business, are big Obama supporters.
