SEATTLE -
The most prominant interest group here at Gov. Gregoire's final bus tour event isn't one of the traditional Democratic stalwarts like the IBEW or the SEIU. No, today it is S.O.S., Save Our Sonics. The group of fans dedicated to keeping the team in Seattle has come out in force to make a statement to the Governor to call a special session to allocate money for arena renovations.
Doors just opened about fifteen minutes ago, but at this point nearly a third of the assembled crowd is wearing Sonics green. More on this as it develops.SOS
UPDATED:
Gregoire addresses the S.O.S. crowd right off the bat.
"Let me say thank you to the Sonics fans for coming here...I feel we have all been lied to today....The Sonics are our team and they’re going to stay in the great state of Washington”
Those statements were met with cheers from the Green and Gold.
