Reichert pens op-ed in favor of CFTA

On the heels of his trip to Colombia and his efforts to convince state Democrats to change their votes on the subject, Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Auburn) has written an opinion piece in today's Seattle Times in support of the Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

Reichert tells readers the agreement is a positive one that will open new markets for American business, support democracy in an unstable region, and begin a  chain reaction of free trade agreements that will lead to better business opportunities here in Washington State.

He also derides the "political gamesmanship" that he says has derailed the project so far.

"I challenge opponents of the Colombia FTA to conduct their own investigation," Reicherrt says in the piece, "because I believe that engaging in true fact-gathering — instead of an exchange of partisan talking points — would lead them to enthusiastically support this agreement."
