A KING-TV/Survey USA poll shows the gubernatorial race in a dead heat once again. In a survey of 613 registered voters asked, "Washington will elect a Governor in November 2008. If the election for Governor were today, and the only two candidates on the ballot were Republican Dino Rossi and Democrat Christine Gregoire, who would you vote for?" respondents chose Gov. Chris Gregoire over Dino Rossi 48% to 47%. 5% were undecided. The margin of error was +/- 4.1%.
The Rossi campaign celebrated the news of a statistical tie.
"These latest polls reinforce what we've known for months - this race is extremely competitive and remains a statistical dead heat," said Jill Strait, Rossi spokesperson. "These results should make everyone increasingly skeptical of the February 21st University of Washington poll. It is inconsistent with all the other polls conducted on this race and their ‘panel survey' methodology would not be considered a reliable gauge of public sentiment by most political pollsters.
"Dino's positive message continues to resonate with Republicans, Independents, and moderate Democrats. This citizens' movement is growing, and will ensure a change in Olympia come November"
The Washington Poll Strait refers to showed Gregoire with an eleven point lead.
