Sean Astin addresses 43rd LD caucus

SEATTLE -

Hollywood actor Sean Astin, stars of such films as "The Goonies", "Rudy" and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, addressed the 43rd Legislative District Caucus as a surrogate for Hillary Clinton. Astin, who flew up from Los Angeles early this morning asked the crowd, "Is this Obama country?" The crowd, made up of roughly 80% of Obama delegates, roared in approval.

"I want to offer a profound congratulations to the Obama supporters," he then said and assured them that if Obama wins, "I will become a massive Senator Barack Hussein Obama supporter."

Astin touched on the importance of party unity, citing a speech that Rep. Jim McDermott had made earlier that morning at a different caucus, and then proceeded to give his pitch for Hillary Clinton.

There are three main reasons, Astin said, for his support of Clinton, who he called a groundbreaking First Lady. He marveled at her personal skills during the two times they had met, he felt she was good on all of the issues, and third he believed that she had the most experience, at the very least because she was older than Obama. issues, third more experience because she is older.

Someone then signaled from the side of the stage that his speaking time was up, so Astin told the auditorium, "Seattle districts are extraordinary and set the example for democracy in the world."

Just as quickly he and his entourage whisked out of the auditorium to talk to meet and greet more of the Hillary faithful outside.
