8th District Congressional candidate Darcy Burner (D-Carnation) announced today that her campaign has raised nearly $1.2 million in the 3rd quarter, which they predict will put them among the top of congressional challengers nationally.
Burner brought in a grand total of $1,192,930 between July and September to aid her race to unseat Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Auburn), including more than $840,000 in the last two months. This brings the total amount raised to $3,145,820 for the entire cycle.
"As we enter the final weeks of the race, we are seeing a surge of support for Darcy Burner, and that is reflected in our fundraising," Burner campaign spokesperson Sandeep Kaushik said. "While Congressman Reichert is benefiting from hundreds of thousands of dollars in television buys by outside right-wing groups committed to preserving the Bush economic policies that he supports, this strong support for Darcy's campaign is yet another indication that voters are looking for change this November."
