Lawyers for Dino Rossi filed a motion in King County Superior Court yesterday to stop a subpoena that would require the Republican gubernatorial candidate to testify under oath about his role in the Building Industry Association of Washington's fundraising efforts.
The Olympian obtained a copy of the motion, which cites a report by the attorney general's office suggesting that plaintiffs, former state Supreme Court Justices Robert Utter and Faith Ireland, lack proper jurisdiction in their case.
The attorneys also claim that the suit is politically motivated, and to subpoena Rossi during prime campaign time would be an "undue burden". Furthermore, they seek a protective order that would keep Rossi from testifying until after the election.
