Dino Rossi's gubernatorial campaign released a new TV ad today called "Denial" hitting Gov. Chris Gregoire on the state's projected budget deficit compared with her statements on the state's current budget surplus.
The ad shows clips of Gregoire citing the state's present budget situation, followed by an announcer mentioning the projected budget deficit for next biennium and asks, "Is she dishonest, or is she in denial?"
"The first step toward recovery is admitting there is a problem, and while Washington desperately needs recovery from four years of overspending, Christine Gregoire is still refusing to accept reality and admit we face a $3.2 billion deficit," said Rossi spokesperson Jill Strait. "Washington needs a governor who will protect taxpayers and return fiscal sanity to Olympia. We are in this mess because politicians like Christine Gregoire recklessly gambled that they could continue to spend over two times more than revenue growth. She was wrong. She helped create this deficit and she is the wrong person to get us out."
The Gregoire campaign has said the ad is dishonest for representing a present deficit, when that is not the case.

Close the Book on Dino Rossi
Right here.
So what?
So she'll cut spending or raise taxes or both, like every other governor has done, and the budget will be balanced, as it always is, and life will go on.
Now here's some information for you, smart guy. Read it slowly so you don't bruise your lips.
The taxpayers voted to raise their gas taxes to build roads. The taxpayers voted to raise their taxes so that teacher pay could be indexed to the cost of living. The taxpayers voted for smaller class sizes so that their kids would learn more and better. The taxpayers voted to index the minimum wage to the cost of living so that the working pooor would not fall even farther behind.
Gregoire didn't do this. The Legislature didn't do this. The voters, in direct elections, did it.
People want this state to move forward. Gregoire is the only choice. Dino Rossi is the candidate of the greedheads, who cry Chicken Little if they have to pay a few bucks more to keep this state running to everyone's benefit.
Dino Rossi is a nasty pr*ck who cut 40,000 poor kids off Basic Health. I guess that makes him a hero in your book. He is unfit to be governor of this or any other state.
And only an idiot would vote
And only an idiot would vote for Gregoire, Ivan! Yes, the state requires a balanced budget. The 2009-11 budget is currently projected at not being balanced (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/379644_forecast19.html I take you'll claim the Seattle PI is full of bs as well?) That means Gregoire (or Rossi, upon election) is required by the state constitution to call a special session until the budget is balances (whether that means cutting spending, as Rossi would prefer, or raising taxes, as Gregoire desires).
Try learning what you're talking about before you open your ignorant trap.
Rossi's entire campaign is
Rossi's entire campaign is based on pure BS. Every governor in this state is required by law to submit a balanced budget.
When (not if) Gregoire is re-elected, she will spend what is available and no more. Because that's what the law requires.
Rossi is a fraud whose rich buddies would balance the budget on the backs of working people. Only a fool or a greedhead would vote for him.
