DENVER - A new component of the Democratic delegation's daily meetings, now that the convention is under way, is to tell stories of what happened at the previous day's events.
One of the prevalent messages from yesterday was just how packed the convention hall was. Delegates were warned about the possible for hour-long security waits, but one in particular had their own horror story to report. She had left the Pepsi Center just before 6 o'clock to meet a guest outside and, despite there being over three hours remaining in the program, was not let back into the hall.
It was too full. And it was only Monday. Luckily for convention goers Thursday's acceptance speech is at nearby Invesco Field, which seats 70,000.
Also fortunate for the state delegation was their orderly behavior. The Evergreen Staters were one of the first delegations to be fully seated last night, less than an hour after the 3 PM start of the program.
"We were one of the most completely seated delegations in the hall," Party Chair Dwight Pelz told the delegates. "More than one observer told me that signaled respect for the speakers."
