DENVER - Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Arlington) addressed the Washington delegation this morning still excited about last night's convention speeches by Michelle Obama and Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy.
"It was a thrilling moment," Larsen said of Kennedy's arrival on stage at the Pepsi Center.
He also looked forward to hearing what would come tonight, when the theme is "Renewing America's Promise." Larsen continually invoked that theme in his speech, and using it to tie the idea of America's future to his own party.
"There is only one party in America that continues to renew that promise," Larsen said, "and that is the Democratic Party."
The 2nd Congressional District Democrat insisted that the top issue for this fall would be the economy and jobs, which go hand in hand with the promise of a brighter economic future, and he urged the gathered Democrats to remind their friends and neighbors just how the Democrats will renew that promise.
"We have to get out," Larsen implored, "and tell people what change will mean to them."
