June, July money races at a glance

Because of the delayed reporting date for July, in accordance with the seismic changes in the Public Disclosure Commission's website this summer, June's and July's entries in PolitickerWA.com's money races at a glance series have been combined into one post.

The first number listed is contributions, the second number is expenditures and the third number is the difference between the two. Precluding any unusual circumstances, that third number in bold is equal to cash on hand. The candidate with the most cash on hand is listed at the top of each section. Asterisk denotes incumbent.

With the exception of the gubernatorial and attorney general races, in-kind contributions were ignored and significant campaign loans and personal candidate contributions have been noted in parentheses where applicable.

See April's figures here, and May's figures here.

Fundraising

Hi Bryan,

I have to say that if people would pay less attention to how much money candidates raise and more attention to the issues and ethics that we stand for the public would be better served!

The media is making a decision as to what candidates get visibility and their messages heard. Does this mean that only "big money makers" have the best message? I think not!

I am very concerned about the financial shape of our State. The $2.7 billion dollar shortfall that meets the Legislature in January is not going to be fun.

Chosen Races

Yes, the reason that some races did not make it was either due to a general lack of fundraising, competitiveness or a significant gap between candidates' cash on hand totals. Those listed are what PolitickerWA.com considered to be the state's top money races.

Is there any reason some races are ignored?
