Frank Chopp to propose cutting health care for education
Wow.. Apparently Frank was quoted at a recent meeting with the children's alliance saying that he felt that health care was a federal issue not a state mandate and since the State is at risk of being sued for not meeting its obligation he is going to throw the Basic Health Plan out the door this next session.
Thankfully education and health care advocates aren't about to buy into the false dichotomy nor do they believe that investing up front in either health care or education "costs" the state more money.
Clearly when people get seriusly ill they are going to get health care at some point it is just a question of how much we as a community want to pay for it.
Frank has become so inaccesable to the people in his district that he runs the risk of being tossed out this next time around so don't be suprised if you see new alliances forming that byspass him this session.
