The weekend is over and, despite the summery Monday weather, it is time to get back to work.
The same goes for Gov. Chris Gregoire who is participating in the Service Employees International Union's (SEIU) "walk a day in my shoes" program today, where candidates and elected officials follow a union worker for a day on their job.
Gregoire is shadowing a home care worker in Tacoma all day, and is the first sitting governor to participate in the program. It became well known last year when most of the Democratic presidential candidates walked in an SEIU member's shoes.
Democratic nominee Barack Obama notably participated, and spoke often on the stump about his experience.
"Walking just one day in Pauline's shoes was probably the best experience I've had on this campaign so far," he says on SEIU's website.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's (R) largest financial base of support outside of her home state is in the Evergreen state.
