Rep. Baird Invites Southwest Washington Residents to Attend Healthcare Forums in Olympia, Vancouver, and Longview Next Week
Washington, DC - At a time when Americans are struggling to afford healthcare costs, Congressman Brian Baird (WA-03) will hold three healthcare forums throughout Southwest Washington next week to spread the word about legislation he introduced last year, entitled the Healthy Americans Act. The bill is the first bipartisan, bicameral health care reform proposal in over a decade, and was introduced by Reps. Baird, Earl Blumenauer (OR-3), Jo Ann Emerson (MO-8), Jim Cooper (TN-05) in the House and by Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Bob Bennett (R-UT) in the Senate last July.
The Healthy Americans Act will ensure that every American has high-quality, private health insurance that is comparable to what Members of Congress now enjoy. The bill also establishes a sliding scale for health care premium assistance for low-income Americans and creates a health care tax credit to help Americans cover health plan costs.
Congressman Baird invites all residents and the press to attend the healthcare forums, where healthcare specialists will discuss current regional health insurance trends and hear feedback from local community members. To RSVP, please call Rep. Baird's Vancouver office at 360-695-6292.
