UPDATED: Bart to announce candidacy for 2nd CD

Yesterday Sound Politics blog announced that the long-running rumor that former Snohomish County Sheriff Rick Bart will run for Congress in the 2nd District is true. Bart has decided to announce his entry into the race next week in Snohomish. That news was confirmed today by Snohomish County GOP Chair Geri Modrell.

"Yes, that is our expectation," she said when asked about Bart's upcoming announcement. "He is very excited about the way things are looking."

The 2nd District seat is currently held by Democrat Rick Larsen, who has held the office since 2001.

UPDATE:

Bart's announcement speech has been postponed until April 15, per the Bellingham Herald.
